Why You Gotta Upgrade Your Software (Mentality)

I am going to start off by saying you need both good hardware and software. Hardware refers to your innate skills or talents or strengths usually more in a physical sense and software refers to your mindset, personality or inner self.
Now you can see issues with the imbalance between the two. Good hardware with poor software will only really be as good as its software in the long run. Meaning, it may be appealing or attractive at first, but it ultimately lacks the advanced functions to attend to people's needs and keep them around you. Poor hardware but with good softwae may not do so well in appealing or attracting others from the get-go but once people realize the amazing functions, they will grow attached to it.
Now, I agree with Bill Gates when he says that software is more important than hardware especially because I've personally lived the life where I upgraded only my hardware and found myself lost and confused. For instance, I was a pretty good athlete capable of playing virtually all sports at an above average skill level, but my inner self wasn't quite capable of appreciating such talents and rather focused solely on my negative circumatance and the things I wasn't good at. This negative tune in my head not only prevented self-confidence, but it also made me very self-conscious to a point I began to care too much about others' judgments and validation (often in fear my weaknesses will be exposed). In other words, all my innate talents (aka good hardware) weren't really able to shine because I didn't develop the software that matched its level. This is why I urge you to develop good software and ensure that you upgrade your hardware and software at a similar rate. Software upgrade is essentially a process of learning about yourself thoroughly and embracing both your strengths and weaknesses. What can help this process is interacting more with others, reading books, reading the Scripture, and overall gaining more life experiences.
I don't know where you stand in terms of your version of hardware and software. But I want to encourage you to keep up the good work and continue to upgrade both so that you may ultimately find yourself doing the very things you dream of doing with proficiency and humility.
